Why VeteranLicensing exists
VeteranLicensing helps veterans, transitioning servicemembers, military spouses, and other career changers discover licensed careers and understand what it takes to enter and maintain them.
Licensed careers can offer meaningful ways to serve others, build expertise, and pursue entrepreneurial opportunity. They can also involve education, examinations, applications, supervision, continuing education, and ongoing compliance. Our purpose is to make that journey understandable without promising eligibility, employment, income, or a particular outcome.
My licensed-career journey
I served on Active Duty as a mechanized infantryman with the 4th Infantry Division and later as a Combat Medic in the Iowa National Guard. Our regiment’s motto, Ducti Amore Patriae—Having been led by Love of Country—captures the spirit of service behind this work.
My own transition was not easy. Staying connected to the military community and helping servicemembers with mock interviews, résumés, and professional networking showed me how valuable clear, practical guidance can be.
After working in a call center, I followed my entrepreneurial spirit and opened a multiline insurance practice. I later moved into management, guided people through licensing, and took many licensing examinations myself. I also served as Director of Sales for an online real-estate education company, working with brokers and Realtor associations.
Those experiences revealed how fragmented career education and licensing information can be. VeteranLicensing was created to help people move from exploring a career, to understanding credentials and state requirements, to preparing for exams and education, entering the field, and maintaining their authority.
Trust comes first
We organize information around official sources, transparent review dates, and plain-language explanations. Education-provider comparisons may become one helpful step, but commercial relationships will not define our mission or determine career recommendations. Provider and affiliate information will be clearly disclosed and kept separate from regulatory facts.
